Who Are We
Heartland EMS is a community based medical transport service based in Dubuque, Iowa that provides paramedic ambulance service and alternative transportation in Dubuque and the Tri-States. When one thinks of an ambulance service most will relate it to an emergency response with lights and sirens but the needs of the Tri-States goes far beyond that. Every year Heartland EMS transports nearly 4,000 people.
Communities of the Tri-States are well served with local volunteer and municipal ambulance services. In Dubuque and other areas Heartland EMS provides emergency paramedic response in conjunction with other local resources. However, beyond the “local emergency response” provided by these services, non-emergency and inter-facility options for transport are limited. Heartland EMS maintains a system approach to service which has allowed us to match the most cost efficient and medically appropriate transportation to the callers need. The diversity of care available has made Heartland EMS the #1 choice when health care professionals need someone transported. The transport crews are an elite team with top-notch credentials who are considered the “best of the best.” This was exemplified when Heartland EMS received the Iowa’s “Career Paramedic Service of the Year” award in 2004.
