Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

For professional rescuers who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course. This group would include First Responders, Emits, paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurses and physicians. This course provides information on adult and pediatric CPR, including two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask. Also covers foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious), automated external defibrillation (AED), special resuscitation situations, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

Heart saver First Aid

For persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

For persons in healthcare needing credentialing (card) in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. This course is for paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurses and physicians. People taking the course for the first time should have a cardiology course as pre-requisite.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

For persons in healthcare needing credentialing (card) in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. This course is for paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurses and physicians.

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

For persons in healthcare that treat trauma patients. This course is a continuing education program for EMTs, paramedics, and nurses.

Ride Time for EMS Students

Heartland EMS provides supervised ride time clinical experience for students seeking certification as an EMT-B, EMT-Intermediate, or Paramedic. Students from Northeast Iowa Community College and Eastern Iowa Community College have had the opportunity to practice their skills with the oversight of a preceptor.

Scheduling a Standby

Heartland EMS can provide an ambulance for your next event.

Have a paramedic and EMT at your next church event, block party or charity fundraiser. Heartland EMS also provides EMS demonstrations to schools, clubs and associations. Heartland EMS provides standby services at community events throughout the year.

Child Passenger Safety Check

Heartland EMS maintains a child passenger seat safety check station. Call and set up an appointment to come in and have your car seat inspected. Our certified child passenger safety technicians will check for damage, proper installation, and work with you in understanding the proper use of your car seat.
